More than likely you will have already heard the name of Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa flying around this year, whether you own an Echo Dot or you have heard the hype about smart devices and voice assistant technology.
Lets look at how Alexa will be able to help keep you and your party guests entertained this Christmas…
Play Christmas Music
A fairly obvious choice to make the most of Alexa this Christmas would be to play Christmas music in your home or office!
If you have an Amazon Music Unlimited account or Spotify subscription there’s a huge amount of Christmas songs to choose from. If you don’t have a subscription to either of those then try enabling the Christmas Radio skill or ask her to sing you a Christmas carol, the results are often amusing.
You can also play Christmas music curated by Santa by telling Santa what you want to hear with an iHeartRadio skill called iHeartSanta. Once you have enabled this plugin you can simply ask Alexa to ‘talk to Santa’.
Control Your Christmas Lights
Another great way to put Alexa to good use this Christmas is by using Alexa to control your Christmas lights.
Simply plug any strand of your festive lighting into an Alexa compatible smart plug and then you can control your lights by using commands like “Alexa, turn the Christmas tree lights on.”
Track Santa
Want to know how Santa is getting on with his rounds?
By enabling the Norad Tracks Santa skill you can ask “Where’s Santa?” to see his location and some interesting facts from Norad’s “Santa Files”.
